So I've done a lot of painting lately and no updating on my paintings/ ideas. This watercolor below is about 2x2.5 feet in diameter, and it took me about 15 hours to paint. I painted it specifically to enter into an exhibit in New York city (A watercolor show). I have my fingers crossed that I can get in, but I'm doubting it since I'm going up against the best watercolorists in the nation. The only reason I have a glimpse of hope is the fact that they have a student category. Yay for being a student.
I think many people don't like/ appreciate abstracted art. I love it more and more as time goes on.

Whitney! I LOVE this!! How did you think to do it like that? Did you layer or just tape it all off or what?! I especially like the balance of organic vs structured shapes. I'm not good at leaving good bleed stains...I always end up painting over them :(
I also like the overall gradient effect from cool to warm to cool again, and that your warm colors are more pure whereas your cools are more dirty.
Mmmm. I hope you get into the show! I'd love to see this in person. Photography? Over Thanksgiving sometime? Eh?
very nice! I've been missing all the posts you usually do! But I can understand why. And I can definitely see why it took 15 hours, although it would have taken me like 48. Keep us posted on if you get accepted/win!
